Your banner is still on your system.
To showing specific banner for your banners module, simple choose the Category field from the banners module backend parameter

I do appreciate your help, but that banner was listed as an advertisement and turning that off turned the module off, I am sure I simply don't understand, any more advice!

yes, then after you choose the different category please re-enable your banners module
