Related Item Randon Order

Hi,

I'm testing Related Items module in a Joomla's category. So on the module backend I have selected the category and choose Order by "Random". After that, I wrote just one keyword for each article (the same keyword for all articles in that category) and loaded the module into the articles using .

The effect is nice but I get always the same related articles on each page.

Why "Random" order doesn't work?

I saw the similar topics and I'm happy for other customers that have fixed the same issue ;)

Hi godweb, Did you install any specific cache extensions? I think this is related to cache, because everytime I cleared your website cache then (Site > Maintenance ->Clear Cache) then the module working properly.

    Hi admin,

I switched off all caches and the module still doesn't work.

I installed a clone of the main website where all caches are off: please, can you login on the backend? I have submitted the new url on "Site details" below.

Feel free to test as you desire, it is a test website.

    Thank you very much

Hi godweb, sorry for delay in responding due to weekend offline.
Can you setup a new fresh joomla please? It's harder for me to track the problem because your website has too many extensions installed

    Hi admin,
maybe I have understood the issue. You can see that the articles in the category Lavoro have different item id: please, look the menu assignment on your module and you can understand what I mean.

If I use the module in a category blog, where all articles have just a single menu item, common for all articles in this category, the module works well. But if I use the module in a category where each article have the own menu item, the module doesn't work.

What do you think about it?

I have tried this on my localhost and looks like everything running fine. Please have alook on this screencast :

    Hi Admin,

after to have looked your video, I have verified that the module works almost well in others category. I say almost because I think that the Random order can be improved about the weights of the keywords.

Anyway, about the articles that I presented to you, you remember that the module displayed always the same 3 articles. So, I have removed the keywords from these 3 articles and the module is missed from all other articles of the category lavoro.

This should mean that the module doesn't work well in that category because it is unable to read the keywords of the other articles, but only the keywords of the 3 articles showed before. I don't know the reason.

I hope to be clear ;) Thank you for your patience

In this case, can you try to clear your joomla cache? Because when I tested before, removing all caches will affect the module.

    Hi godweb,
Sorry for delay in responding your post, but honestly I really have no idea about this issue. Not only because I'm unable to replicate the problem at my end but in your side, the issue occurs only on a specific category. Maybe you can try to find out what is the difference between this lovoro category and other category?
