Serve Scaled Images

Hi, I'm wondering why Serve Scaled Images on my Page Speed Score is so low and what I can do to address this?

Hi, This is because gtmetrix captures the smallest size of a pagepeelbanner image, which will be enlarged by the script when the user places the cursor on it.

    Hello,

Thanks for your response. The serving scaled images error/page speed score is not one of the images we've submitted, but the Page Peel curled element that is scaled via CSS.

Can you modify how the object is calling or pulling in entirely so that it no longer is resizing with the css/html?

Hi, sorry to be not responding but I have to say that this is a problematic issue. You can try to resize the physical dimension of https://www.kch***.com/modules/mod_pagepeel_banner/assets/bg.png file to 80x83 but I think it will decrease the image quality.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. Would it be possible to edit your previous comment URL so it doesn't include client information?

Additionally, resizing won't work because the file scales up to the full size.

Are there any other solutions you are aware of?

    Thanks,

Have you tried to resize it?

    Hi,

We resized the image as suggested, and unfortunately, though the result was a significant increase in PageSpeed score, the end result was visually grainy and blurry when scaled up to the full size. Do you have another workaround at this time?

    Thanks,

Hi, to change the way the module works will need a major changes to the code base, so I would not take this option at the moment.
But I think you can improve the score by optimizing the image size so it have a smallest one, at least to have < 10 kb size.

Both of these website below having the same score issue with Serve Scaled Images, but both of them have A score. I thinks it because they have a small peel image size.

Please have a look and try. Good luck

    Hi,

Will your system natively support a .svg file for the image? If it doesn't, can we request this as a feature? This should address the scaling issue without losing quality, and also will be a smaller filesize.

    Thanks,

Hi, yes its possible. Try to upload bg.svg below to assets folder , and change the bg.png to bg.svg in the default.php of the module
